Artist statement 2007

My work is an exploration of movement and mood. The finished painting is never a foregone conclusion. It all depends on how I feel at any given moment and what the painting is saying to me. It's like being involved in a conversation, I never know how one thing will lead to another.

I see the work as a means for expressing the moment between one state of being and another. This cannot be prejudged or nailed down in the manner of a photograph. So I paint in a sort of controlled abstraction.
